Hi everyone,
Well it’s been another eventful few months.
I have been learning all about manicures and pedicures at a brilliant training company in Tamworth. I have actually passed all my assessments for Level 1 and I am currently working on Level 2 which involves case studies at home, so Sheila is having a French Manicure later on this week.

As soon as all my case studies are complete I will be doing my written and practical exams.
Look out for special offers for manicures and pedicures in the near future.
My website is also up and running, please check it out at www.ssfholistics.co.uk

Let’s start with our mental attitude – instead of saying “its old age” let’s change it to “I’m maturing in the pattern of my youth”. If we think that our problems are due to old age we fall into acceptance and don’t do anything about them.
I can help you change all of that:
A regular massage will help loosen those creaky joints, ease aches and pains, increase your circulation, sooth your nerves and help regulate your blood pressure.
As a mobile therapist – you could employ me and have a group massage session once a fortnight and invite your friends, family and neighbours to come in and share the costs. This would encourage the more timid members of the group to have a go.
I would also be available to give talks to groups during an evening or weekend.
I use a variety of different oils in my aromatherapy massage, which I blend to suit the individual’s needs. Oils that are suitable for the mature person include:-
a/ Basil & Rosemary to alleviate fatigue.
b/ Eucalyptus & Lavender for arthritis & rheumatic conditions.
c/ Camomile and Clary Sage for general aches and pains.
d/ Frankincense to clear negative thoughts and help alleviate symptoms of grief.
All of the oils are extracted from plants, flowers and vegetables so are totally nature. There’s no manmade chemical in site. Most of the oils have naturally occurring anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-viral or antibiotic properties in them. So an aromatherapy massage will really give your immune system a real boost.

Hi everyone,
Well it’s been another eventful couple of months at Topnotch. I was shocked when I was asked to move rooms, as the club had other ideas on how to utilise the space. So I’ve relocated & can now be found up the main stairs to the left. I’m sure the club will reveal the purpose of all this shortly.
Christmas is looming & I’ve re-stocked all the soaps, lip balms & bath bombs – just in time for you guys to buy your stocking fillers. This time we have gone for the “Mega Bath Bombs” in Christmas fragrances – including Frankincense, Red Berry, Frosty Apple, Pine & Tangerine, Spice & Orange, Marmalade, Raspberry & Kiwi. They are retailing at £1.75 each or 2 of £3.00. The regular bath bombs are still available in Rose, Apple, Cherry, Champagne, Lemongrass, Honey & Chamomile and cost £1.20 each or 5 for £5.00. Other new items are Cherry Cupcake Soaps and a variety of Shower Gels including Lavender, Rose, Peppermint & Rosemary, Energise, And Juicy Orange & Ylang Ylang. All novelty soaps and all shower gels cost £2.00 each. Don’t forget that from an extra £1 you can have your items displayed in a basket, to make an extra special seasonal gift.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, squashed tomatoes & stew, bread & butter in the gutter, Happy Birthday to me.
Yes – I’ve been working at Topnotch for two years this week (7th Sept 09) and I was a member of the club for four years prior to that. It’s gone amazingly fast, I’ve met some lovely people and I’ve
had a great time. I’d like to thank all my clients, friends, family & the Topnotch staff for all of your continued support & encouragement.
I strive to create a relaxed ambience in my therapy room when doing treatments. I always buy the best scented candles to help create the right atmosphere. I use my knowledge of the healing properties of plants to assist me in my choice of fragrance. Inhaling the scents from the candles can still get into your blood stream, which can help with any ailments in the same way as aromatherapy oils.

Hi Everyone,
Massage is about to become more exciting, what about a back massage that incorporates a body scrub. The massage takes place as usually but at the end we massage a body scrub/body polish onto your back to exfoliate the skin, a hot towel can then be applied to remove the excess. The end result is a relaxed, de-knotted and smooth finish. Just give Sally, Lynn or Sheila a call to book your appointment, available from Jan 09 onwards.
The soaps and bath bombs are once again selling well, sorry guys we are currently out of stock of the lip balms, headache gel and the relaxing shower gel, but we still have Lettuce and Cucumber soap and the Detox foam bath – now that will come in handy for January 2009 after the Christmas excess. We still have bath bombs available in most of the fragrances, but they are selling out fast.
There are lots of events that we have planned for 2009, so keep looking out for the posters that we put up on the notice boards around Topnotch for details. It’s also worth remembering that non-members are welcome to all of our events, so you can bring your friends and family with you.
I hope you all had an excellent Christmas and I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Hi Everyone,
Well the bath bombs and soaps have been so well received that we are temporarily out of stock of most of the range. But I will be restocking soon. Items to look out for include “Rose soap, honey or chocolate lip balm and soap cheesecake slices, in a variety of flavours.
I would like to remind everyone the importance of having treatments with professionally trained members of the team. We must firstly consider Health, Safety and Hygiene. All Salon 2000 and Topnotch staff are taught the best practice(s) for cleanliness within the workplace and is a mandatory part of their qualification in there chosen field. Other areas of importance are first aid, again if anything does not go to plan there are qualified first aiders at both sites to keep you safe and well. Qualified staff can obtain Liability insurance and can register with the relevant governing body. For example I am proud to be a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (the largest in Europe with over 21,000 members) and we have recently be awarded the Status of Stourbridge and Stourton Support group.
More technical stuff – did you know that Rosemary oil used in a massage could actually increase you blood pressure. Well probably not unless you are a trained Aromatherapist. So the message is clear if you want a treatment that suits your needs then choice a person qualified and trained properly. For example I wouldn’t colour my own hair, because it might go green or another nasty shade. Instead the qualified hairdressers at the Salon sort this out for me with great results.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all clients old and new for there continued support and I hope to see you all again in the near future.

Another brilliant therapy is Hopi Ear Candling – ideal for people suffering with sinus problems such as Hayfever, Tinitus and excess earwax. Doctors are increasing recommending this as an alternative treatment to eardrops or syringing. I became interested in Hopi Ear Candling after my husband received a treatment. For several nights after his treatment he stopped snoring and I got some well-deserved sleep.
Colour Therapy
Colour Therapy is a natural system of healing that used the energy of the spectrum colours to harmonise and balance the mind, body and spirit.
There is an energy relating to each of the seven spectrum colours of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, or seven main charkas of the body. They are like the workings of a clock or an engine; each cog/wheel needs to move smoothly for the clock/engine to work properly. Balance of the energy in each of the body’s charkas is very important for health and well being. Colour therapy can help to re-balance and/or stimulate these energies by applying the appropriate colour to the body and therefore re-balance our charkas. When being massaged it’s usual to see colours in your mind, blue is calming, red is often seen by children as they are growing roots (grounding for good life). Green is healing, Pink is for balancing. So if you feel down then wear that pink jumper it will soon make you feel better and if you feel unwell wear a green one and so on. Try it and see for yourself.

| Sally’s back to Nature – Part 2 |
In last quarters newsletter I talked about how I started learning Aromatherapy and how I achieved a life times ambition. This quarter I want to talk about the other therapies. Indian Head Massage, well what can I say if you suffer with “tense nervous headaches” then DO NOT take Anadin, try an Indian Head Massage instead. Its another hands on treatment, that removes stressful energies and unblocks the chakra’s (the energy fields in the body). There are 7 main chakra’s in the body, each is associated with a different colour. So I will tell you about 3 off them.
Crown Chakra – is located at the top of the head, it’s associated with your higher consciousness and is always associated with the colour violet.
The Heart Chakra – is all about love and caring, the colour to see here is Green.
Sky Blue is the colour associated with the Throat Chakra. Have you every wanted to say something and have bitten your tongue, so it plays on your mind and you worry. The Throat chakra becomes closed because the lack of communication is effecting you. This in turn is affecting your other chakra’s, your heart chakra is blocked because what you want to say is coming from the heart and you get a headache because of all the pressure you are under.
Your whole emotional system is shutting down, so an Indian Head Massage will open your chakra’s and release the energies so your worries melt away.
Colour therapy is a very important part in our lives, but I will talk about that next time.

| Sally’s back to Nature – Part 1 |
Hi I’m Sally (Soul Fingers) Clewes.
I am 38 years old and have worked in an office most of my working life, but back in 2004 I changed my life for the better. I went back to college; my dream of becoming an Aromatherapist was becoming reality. Firstly I learnt “Anatomy & Physiology”. The workings of the body are amazing, even the finest tuned car would be “left standing”. I passed my exam at Dudley College and I was quick to enrol again this time to learn “Swedish Body Massage”. The following September the “Aromatherapy” course commenced and the name “Sally Soul Fingers” was born. Soul Fingers, because during massage my hands can become very hot (like Iron’s). This is when a client needs to be healed, it could be physically or when someone is holding on to a strong emotion like a regret or concern for a loved one. By the time I’d qualified as an Aromatherapist I was addicted and “Indian Head Massage” and “Hopi Ear Candling” quickly followed.
I believe that nature can heal and protect us from harm. The holistic approach is about preventing health problems and assisting your body to heal itself. By the time you’ve booked an appointment at your GP it’s often to late. So how can we help: – Massage can increase your circulation, aiding your body to eliminate toxics and absorb nutrients more effectively. As your body relaxes blood pressure decreases and the stresses and strains of everyday living melts away. Clients report improved sleep patterns, a sense of well-being and increased mobility. Book an appointment today and find out for yourself.
